'Laugh-In' original Henry Gibson die...

Henry Gibson a wry comic character actor whose career included "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," "Nashville" and "Boston Legal," died Monday at his home in Malibu after a brief battle with cancer. He was 73.

Gibson's breakthrough came in 1968 when Henry Gibson was cast as a member of the original ensemble of NBC's top-rated "Laugh-In," on which he performed for three seasons. Each week, a giant flower in his hand, he recited a signature poem, introducing them with the catchphrase that became his signature: "A Poem, by Henry Gibson."

The poems proved so popular that they led to the release of 2 comedy albums, "The Alligator" and "The Grass Menagerie," as well as a book, "A Flower Child's Garden of Verses."

After "Laugh-In," Henry Gibson played the evil Dr. Verringer in "The Long Goodbye" (1973), the first of four films in which he appeared for director Robert Altman. They reunited two years later for "Nashville," in which Gibson played country singer Haven Hamilton and also wrote his character's songs. They went on to work together again in "A Perfect Couple" and "HealtH."

In television, is recent notable work included a five-season stint as crusty Judge Clarence Brown on "Boston Legal" and multiple episodes as the voice of newspaperman Bob Jenkins on the animated King of the Hill.

Gibson is survived by three sons. Memorial services are pending.

The film is adapted from David Ebershoff's best-selling novel, which is loosely based on the true story of Einar Wegener, the Danish painter who in 1931 became the first person to go through a sex-reassignment surgery to become a woman. Kidman will play Wegener.

Charlize Theron, who’d been attached to play Wegener’s wife, Gerda, has departed the production and a replacement has not yet been announced. “We have been in talks for close to a year, and we are soon going into production,” Alfredson said to the daily trade paper.

Janet Jac.. Opens Up About Her Brother's Death

Janet said"It will drive you crazy," about all the media attention she has received over the years, and especially since her brother's death. "People can have rhinoceros skin, but there's a point when something's going to hurt you. Not everyone is stone, stone. I haven't watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, 'How's Obama doing?' I haven't read a newspaper. On top of that, [we've lost] a family member."

Of course, the entire Jackson family was on view during the public memorial for Michael, and Janet was the one by his daughter Paris' side when she spoke about the loss of her father.

"I was really proud," Jackson said of that day. "People said to me that Michael's daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She's a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They're with all their cousins; that family love will keep them going."

However, Janet also said she can't recall speaking to fans, along with sisters LaToya and Rebbie, after the memorial, before she went back to filming Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too." "I don't remember that at all," she said. "I really didn't want to say anything. I left that night to go back to Atlanta to film."

In the interview, Janet also mentions an incident — without specifying what it was — that made her stronger as a person. "I always wanted to have my mother's strength, but I didn't know if it was really there. But a few years back, something happened and I learned that I did.

"I'm not going to mention it, but we all know what it is. And now, coming off all this, it's even beyond that. I was just focused on my job at that moment within my family," she added. "Now at least I know that I can step up to the plate and not crumble when I'm needed. When it comes to something like this that is so, so serious, so painful, so traumatic, I can handle it."

However, it seems she's now focusing on the memories of her brother and the thing she remembers most about him.

"You have to forgive me, because it's really hard to believe he's passed," Janet said. "When I was 14 years old, I would shop for him [when his fame prevented him from going out]. I washed his clothes, cleaned his room. When Mother would go out of town, she'd say, 'I'm leaving you in charge. Take care of Mike.' I would head home from school, see what he needed, then go straight to the stores."

Johnny Depp surprises Disney D23 Expo audience

Johnny Depp, arguably the large movie star in the world, surprised the audience of Walt Disney Co.'s D23 Expo in Anaheim by sailing on stage in his famous pirate regalia.

As 5,000 fans jumped to their feet, the star emerged in full character, with his bleary ballet of the forever besotted Jack Sparrow.

Cracking wise about rum he also said he'd like a little snack -- that nice frog named Kermit who had been on stage earlier and "probably tastes like chicken."

Disney executive Dick Cook played the straight man for the short presentation and it was the least he could do: The "Pirates" franchise has pulled in more than $1 billion in domestic box-office alone and Depp is also on tap for a fourth, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" in 2011. (An earlier version of this post had scrambled title and date -- blame the blackberry!) Depp is also starring "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Lone Ranger" for the Mouse House.

He arrived on stage in gliding replica of the Black Pearl pirate ship and, before they saw his famous face, the crowd was cheering at the sight of his silhouette behind a billowing back-lit sail and pumping stage smoke. Depp was the big finale in a program that featured appearances by John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Tim Burton and a performance by Miley Cyrus. Check back here more details on the program, as well as info on Guillermo del Toro's newly announced venture with Disney and Pixar.

Paris hiltan personal life

Hilton was engaged to fashion model Jason Shaw from mid-2002 to early 2003. In 2003-2004 she had a relationship with singer Nick Carter. Later she was engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, from May 29, 2005 to November 2005. Thereafter, she began dating another Greek shipping heir, Stavros Niarchos III, before breaking up in May 2006. In early 2008, she was spotted with Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden and in May, Hilton announced her intention to marry Madden during interview with television talk-show host David Letterman.[60][61] The two broke up in November 2008, and "remain very good friends".[62][63] She began dating The Hills star Doug Reinhardt in February 2009;[64] Hilton has also referred to her intention to marry Reinhardt, saying "He's gonna be my husband."[65] The couple broke up in June 2009, only to be seen back together again in August of the same year.

Hilton told Live with Regis and Kelly: "One-night stands are not for me. I think it's gross when you just give it up. Guys want you more, if you don't just hand it to them on a platter."[66]

Hilton loves small dogs, and lives with a Yorkshire Terrier and a female Chihuahua named Tinkerbell. Paris Hilton is frequently seen carrying Tinkerbell (dubbed an "accessory dog") at social events and functions, and in all five seasons of television reality show The Simple Life.

In 2004, Tinkerbell "authored" a memoir, The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries. On August 12, 2004, Tinkerbell went missing after Hilton's apartment was burgled, and a $5,000 reward was offered for her safe return.[67] She was found six days later. By December 1, 2004, Tinkerbell was again spotted with Paris Hilton at various events. Hilton has also purchased a male Chihuahua on July 25, 2007 from Pets of Bel Air in Los Angeles.[68] Hilton's love for man's best friend led her to create an apparel line for dogs called Little Lily by Paris Hilton, with some of the proceeds going to benefit animal rescue. "I have 17 dogs and I like to dress them, so I started designing this clothing line and it's really cute, like dresses and jeans — everything you can imagine for humans, but for dogs," she said in an interview during Super Bowl XLII festivities.[69] Hilton's love for her dogs led to the rumor that she wanted to be frozen with them at the Cryonics Institute,[70] but Hilton denied the rumor on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.[71]

A homemade sex video of Hilton and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked on the Internet in 2003, later released as the DVD 1 Night in Paris despite attempted legal action. It appeared a week prior to the premiere of The Simple Life.

On December 20, 2008 around 4:00 am, a man in a hooded sweater and gloves entered Hilton's Mulholland Estates, Los Angeles home and stole $2 million dollars worth of jewelry and other items from her bedroom. Hilton was not home at the time and nobody was injured in the home invasion. There is speculation that it was an inside job.[72

Ian McKellen to be honoured at San Sebastian festival

MADRID (AFP) – Actor Ian McKellen will receive a lifetime achievement award at this month's San Sebastian film festival in Spain, the organisers announced on Friday.

The 70-year-old "Lord of the Rings" actor will be honoured with the festival's Donostia Award, which goes to "a great film personality in recognition for their work and career," they said in a statement.

"Sir Ian McKellen is one of the leading British film, theatre and TV actors," it said.

"His tremendous versatility has led him to play enormously varying parts, from the Shakespeare classics to contemporary superheroes, from author cinema to major commercial productions."

Best-known internationally for his roles as Magneto in the "X-Men" series and as Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings" saga, McKellen has also had a long career as a Shakespearean actor on the stage.

He received Oscar nominations for his roles in "Gods and Monsters" in 1998 and "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings" in 2001.

He received the Silver Shell award for best actor at the San Sebastian festival for "Gods and Monsters," in which he played the the gay film director James Whale.

The 57th edition of the San Sebastian film festival, the oldest and most prestigious event of its kind in the Spanish speaking world, takes place from September 18 to 26 in the coastal city in northern Spain.

Jessica Seinfeld wins plagiarism case against her

A federal judge on Thursday threw out an author's claims that Jessica Seinfeld, the comedian's wife, plagiarized from her cookbook, but the judge left open claims of defamation against Jerry Seinfeld himself. "This is a complete victory for Jessica Seinfeld," said Orin Snyder, Seinfeld's lawyer.

Snyder said U.S. District Court Judge Laura Taylor Swain dismissed all claims brought against Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, "Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food."

In the lawsuit, filed in 2007, author Missy Chase Lapine accused Jessica Seinfeld of taking ideas from Lapine's cookbook "The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids' Favorite Meals."

Lapine's cookbook was published in April 2007, six months before Seinfeld's book.

"The court categorically rejected the claim that 'Deceptively Delicious' infringed the copyright and trademark of the plaintiff's book," Snyder said. "The federal judge ruled that 'no reasonable fact finder could conclude' that copying occurred here given that the works are 'very different' and that Jessica's book 'has a completely different feel.' "

But Lapine's lawyer, Howard B. Miller, said his client may appeal the dismissal of her copyright and trademark claims, and will refile in state court claims against Jerry Seinfeld.

Lapine's defamation claims against the comedian refer to a comment he made on the "Late Show with David Letterman" in 2007, when he compared the fact that Lapine uses three names to the fact that assassins sometimes use three names, as was the case with Lee Harvey Oswald.

"The claims against Jerry Seinfeld for defamation are still fully alive," Miller said. "He just says he is joking; we don't think calling someone an assassin and a wacko is a joke."

"I'm up against a very powerful opponent," Lapine said in a telephone interview from her home in Westchester County, New York. "Justice is not always served."

Drops out of TV show to fight cancer Maura Tierney

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Maura Tierney has pulled out of NBC's upcoming drama series "Parenthood" because of a scheduling conflict between the show's production and her breast cancer treatments.

NBC has begun the process of recasting her role in the project based on the 1980s movie, written and executive produced by Jason Katims.

"Ms. Tierney and her doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive," Tierney's spokeswoman said Thursday. "She is deeply disappointed that she will not be able to rejoin such a highly respected, talented, fun and funny group of actors and wishes to thank (writer/executive producer) Jason Katims and NBC for their patience and support."

"Parenthood," in which the 44-year-old actress plays one of the central characters, was originally slated to premiere this month but was pushed to midseason in July when, shortly before the series was to go into production, Tierney's doctors discovered a tumor in her breast.

At the time, production start date was postponed until November to give Tierney time to undergo the necessary medical procedures. It now appears Tierney's treatment will take longer, leading to NBC's decision to recast the role in order to make the midseason launch date.

"While we are saddened that Maura Tierney won't be able to continue in her current role in 'Parenthood,' our main concern is for her quick and full recovery," an NBC spokesman said. "Our thoughts and best wishes are with her."

Actress Megan Fox revealed quite a bit about herself in a recent interview regarding her upcoming movie, “Jennifer’s Body,” with MTV News’s “Behind the Screen.”

The actress said she is more at ease kissing women on screen than she is kissing men, and that as a former outcast in high school, she still fears teenage girls.

Megan Fox's New Video & Photo Shoot for Wonderland Magazine

“I am still intimidated by cliques, by groups of teenage girls that approach me,” she told MTV News.

Despite that fact, Fox said teenage girls really like her.

Fox’s new film, “Jennifer’s Body,” is about a small town high school girl, who, possessed by a hungry demon, devours high school boys.

Fox said she is a bit like her character in that she is insecure and that she can be a little offensive. “I can be aggressive,” Fox said. “But out of needing to bite someone before they bite me.”

“Jennifer’s Body” will open in theaters on September 18.
